Lewsey Farm Learning Centre Trust (Ltd) is a
charitable company
limited by
guarantee whose aims and objectives are sympathetic to the social economic
and community enterprise.
A community based educational and training project, it was incorporated on 11th April 2002 and started operating for business on 3rd February 2003. It became a registered charity in December 2004.
Lewsey Farm Learning Centre Trust is situated in a former school in the
centre of the Lewsey estate directly opposite the local shopping centre and
adjacent to the local primary school, on the north-west periphery of Luton in Bedfordshire.
It was set up following a consultation with local people and a feasibility
study after which a disused school building was renovated and converted to
house the project.
The trust is managed by a board of local residents, assisted by support
staff, a number of sub-committees from the board and co-opted members from
the local council and partners.
Key Aims
The key aims and objectives
of the Trust are to: Support the further enhancement of skill levels
amongst local people. Provide employment opportunities for local people
through training. Raise educational standards and the quality of life for
Lewsey residents and surrounding areas. Create positive impact on the local
economy.
