Lewsey Farm Learning
Centre
Trust (Ltd) is a charitable company
limited
by guarantee whose aims and objectives are
sympathetic to the social economic and community enterprise.
A community based educational and training project, it was incorporated
on 11th April 2002 and started operating for business on 3rd February
2003. It became a registered charity in December 2004.
Lewsey Farm Learning Centre Trust is situated in a former school in the
centre of the Lewsey estate directly opposite the local shopping centre
and adjacent to the local primary school, on the north-west periphery
of Luton in Bedfordshire.
It was set up following a consultation with local people and a
feasibility study after which a disused school building was renovated
and converted to house the project.
The trust is managed by a board of local residents, assisted by support
staff, a number of sub-committees from the board and co-opted members
from the local council and partners.
Key Aims
The
key aims and
objectives of
the Trust are to: Support the further enhancement of skill levels
amoungst local people. Provide employment opportunities for local
people through training. Raise educational standards and the quality of
life for Lewsey
residents and surrounding areas. Create positive impact on the local
economy. Within its social, economic and community enterprise remit,
the Trust
operates a number of projects which are:-
Academy of Media Excellence
(AME), Customised Training and Return to Work (CTRTW) and The Lewsey
Farm
Learning Centre Project
